It is not always common to find African people being celebrated in the fashion people, but fashion house Obakki goes above and beyond and kicks off NYFW with a special unique presentation. They used stunning African (South Sudanese) models to represent them.
I thought the idea was extremely well thought out and creative. They are not just using African models to grab attention even though that is what it would partly do, they are paying homage to the roots of the line's inspiration and noting Sudan's difficult history.
The models dazzled the runway with a natural sunkissed look, hair pulled back, allowing everyone to pay close attention to each piece.
I thought the show was outstanding and very beautiful.
